Ann Turkel was born on July 16, 1946 in Manhattan, New York. She started to take up dance lessons when she was five years old, as her grandmother became very supportive in furnishing her performing abilities. While dancing, Ann Turkel also studied acting and voice lessons, and when she turned sixteen; she entered the Musical Theatre Academy as well as the Neighborhood Playhouse and studied under prominent acting coaches Sandy Meisner and Philip Burton.

While playing with her high school rock band, Ann Turkel was discovered by an editor at Vogue Magazine, and invited her to do a modeling stint for the said fashion publication. She stands six feet tall, and with the astonishing looks, and after a week from her acquaintance with the editor, Ann Turkel did her first photo shoot and became part of Vogue magazine’s list of cover girls. Eventually, Ann Turkel became one of the top models in the United States and graced covers not just of Vogue but as well as those of Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan, to name a few. At eighteen, she became known internationally as she became the face of cosmetic tycoons such as Max Factor, Chanel, Revlon, and the Touch of Class line of Faberge.

From modeling, Ann Turkel turned into another field, acting. She starred in Jack Frankenheimer’s 88 & 44/100% Dead opposite Richard Harris. She was nominated a Golden Globe for her performance in the said movie. Her acting career was swooned with other films such as Cassandra Crossing, Golden Rendezvous, Portrait of a Hitman, Humanoids from the Deep, as well as the award-winning series Samson and Delilah. Ann Turkel also married Richard Harris during this time.

Ann Turkel divorced her husband in 1982. From then on she put more focus on television work, as she continued to star on the TV movie Chance of a Lifetime with Leslie Nielsen, The Hunger, and series pilots such as Modesty Blaise and Hollywood Beat. She also appeared on feature films including Ready to Wear by Robert Altman, The Fear, and Touch Me.
