Born on June 4, 1975 as Angelina Jolie Voight in Los Angeles, she was no stranger to the industry, being the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight and actress Marcheline Bertrand. Just as her mother did, Angelina Jolie trained professional acting at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Along with her father, the 7-year-old Jolie starred in the 1982 film “Lookin’ to Get Out”. At age 14, she began her career as a fashion model, working in London, New York and Los Angeles. She also appeared in several music videos of famous artists, including Antonello Venditti, Lenny Kravitz and Meatloaf. However, Angelina Jolie’s acting career began as she played the lead role as a semi-robot in the 1993 film “Cyborg” and the 1995 “Hackers”. Film after film, Jolie outgrew her punk life and began working with serious acting roles.

As Jolie played the critically acclaimed biography film “George Wallace” (1997), controversial HBO movie “Gia” (1998) and the drama “Girl, Interrupted” (1999), her acting was recognized and received international success. She played alongside renowned actors in The Bone Collector (1999), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), Original Sin (2001) Tomb Raider (2001 and 2003), Taking Lives (2004), Alexander (2004), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004), The Good Shepherd (2006) and Beowulf (2007).

She achieved international fame from her portrayal as the heroine Lara, based from the video game Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. From then on, she became one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood, but remains grounded as she continues to promote humanitarian causes worldwide.

Having had rocky relationships in the past with divorces from actors Jonny Lee Miller (co-star of Hackers) and Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie now lives with actor Brad Pitt with three adopted children Zahara, Pax and Maddox as well as their biological child, Shiloh. Jolie and Pitt, with their deep commitment for their humanitarian duties, sold the rights to the pictures of Shiloh and donated the proceeds to charity. Today, Angelina Jolie continues to attract worldwide media attention through her good deeds, relationships, performances and one-of-a-kind beauty, personality and character.
