Ananda Lewis Biography
To sharpen her dramatic skills, Ananda also trained at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. After high school she entered Howard University in Washington, D.C where she hoped to become a teacher. She studied history but spent most of her free time volunteering at Youth at Risk, an organization helping troubled teens.
But after graduation she once again found herself loving the spotlight. She then decided to follow her career in entertainment. She found a perfect stint when she hosted the Teen Summit on BET network. The show covered many of the issues she felt strongly about, such as teen pregnancy, addiction and poverty.
Aside from acting and social work, Ananda also did radio hosting jobs. She co-hosted the Block Party on 100.3 FM The Beat or KKBT Los Angeles. Her co-host was John Salley and their show was aired every morning. She left the radio show by the last months of 2006. Her ability as a host soon took her to MTVs Total Request Live where she became one of the VJs. This was followed by her hosting of the MTV specials Wanna Be a VJ Too.
In 2001, People Magazine named her as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People of the World. The same year she became the host of The Ananda Lewis Show, her own syndicated show. Following the success and good reviews from her own show, she then appeared in 2004 in Celebrity Mole: Yucatan.
Aside from her activities in television and radio, Ananda is still very active in her social causes. She especially supports youth causes. She is involved in racial issue activities, mental and literacy activities, starvation programs and animal prevention cruelty.
Today, Ananda lives happily in Los Angeles. She is busy with work as an entertainer and as an active member of many organizations helping teenagers in trouble. She is single and is too busy to date anyone.
