Amber Beson was born on January 8, 1977 in Birmingham, Alabama. At a young age, she already displayed interest in the performing arts, particularly dancing. Her first on stage performance was in a local theater’s production of The Nutcracker, and she recalls the feeling of happiness and transcendence while she was on stage. She loved hearing the people’s applause as she did her role. Amber Benson and her family lived in Birmingham until they moved to Orlando, Florida when she was 12 years old. She lived in Orlando for a couple of years, and she went to school with future ‘N Sync star Joey Fatone.

Her family then relocated to another city, this time in Los Angeles, California. Amber Benson’s first acting job was in a commercial for snap.com. This was followed by a role in the movie King of the Hill. King of the Hill garnered critically acclaimed and thus she was recognized and was even nominated at the 15th Annual Youth Film Awards. More projects came her way, including Imaginary Crimes opposite Fairuza Balk, Bye, Bye, Love, SFW, and The Crush opposite Alicia Silverstone. Amber Benson was also cast in the hit teen movie Can’t Hardly Wait with Ethan Embry and Jennifer Love Hewitt, but her scenes were cute when it was given a rating of PG-13 instead of an R.

Amber Benson became a regular face on the boob tube as well. She was seen in TV shows such as Jack Reed, Cracker and the Promised Land. As the millennium came to an end, Amber Benson worked on two films, The Prime Gig and Hollywood P.A. She also found her biggest TV success in the role of Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her character in the series won her fans from all parts of the world.

In 2001, Amber Benson finally marked her versatility in the world of entertainment. She was able to write, direct, produce, and star in her own movie entitled Chance. Her writing skills as well became vital in Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic books. Thus she became active in conventions, forums and workshops that promote horror-adventure themes. Amber Benson, together with Christopher Golden also worked with the BBC and Cosgrove Hall to establish and online series, Ghosts of Albion.

Amber Benson again made another film in 2005, entitled Lovers, Liars and Lunatics, which starred James C. Leary and Christine Estabrook. Amber Benson now continues her writing stints as well as regularly appearing on film and television. She currently lives in Southern California with her mom and two pets, a cat and a dog.
