Her first appearance on screen was for the Skittles commercial for television. She also appeared as guest in the series Law and Order. Her film debut was the 1995 Animal Room. She is constantly seen in many independent films.
She had her break in the series Jack and Jill on WB network where she played as Jack. The show lasted only for two seasons despite the good reviews. Then she appeared in as a waitress in the hit series Seinfeld. Her character dated both Jerry Seinfeld and her roommate Lyle. Her first big screen break was in the 2000 movie The Whole Nine Yards.
Finally, she played a supporting lead and gained instant stardom. That year she was one of People Magazines Most Beautiful People in the World. Amanda also appeared along with Jack Black and Steven Zahn in the film Saving Silverman. Then in 2003 she starred with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson in the years hit Somethings Gotta Give. She played the role of Jack Nicholsons lover and daughter of Diane Keaton.
Then in 2005, with just six days of rehearsal she appeared in the play This Is How It Goes. Also in 2005 she acted opposite Matt Damon in Syriana and then opposite Ashton Kutcher in A Lot Like Love. The following year, she performed in Broadway in Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon. Also in 2006 she became part of the cast of NBCs Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Here she was reunited with Whole Nine Yards actor Matthew Perry. Other costars in the television series included Sarah Paulson, her co star in Jack and Jill. Amanda plays the president of National Broadcasting System. That same year, she starred in the love film Griffin and Phoenix alongside Dermont Mulroney. Then in 2007, she appeared in The Ex opposite Zach Braff.
Amanda is married to David Benioff and has one daughter named Frances Pen.
