Amanda Detmer was born on September 27, 1971 in Chico, California. The baby-faced actress has already established her academic career long before her did her stream of film and television credits, as she graduated at the California State University and finished her master’s degree in fine arts at New York University. In 1995, Amanda Detmer made her television debut in the TV movie Stolen Innocence. This was followed by her big screen debut in Drop Dead Gorgeous as Miss Minneapolis.

Amanda Detmer’s spunky yet adorable looks made everyone believe that she is a genuine teen girl as she portrayed roles in films such as Final Destination and Boys and Girls. In real life however, she was already nearing her thirties when she was cast on the said teen films. Prior to that, she first embarked on the dramatic field of acting as she took part in the miniseries To Serve and Protect as well as Ryan Caufield: Year One.

Amanda Detmer became widely recognized in Hollywood because of her youthful smiles and cheerful antics. Often Amanda Detmer could be found in warm and comforting roles that perfectly matches her sweet smiles onscreen. She has also landed on outright comedies, such as in Saving Silverman where she played a would-be nun chased by Jason Biggs. She also worked with Jack Black in this film. In addition to Saving Silverman, Amanda Detmer also starred in the movie The Majestic, opposite Jim Carrey.

Amanda Detmer supporting roles could as well be found in films such as Big Fat Liar and Kiss the Bride, not to mention Lorena David’s action-packed comedy Extreme Dating, this time with Devon Sawa. In 2006, however, Amanda Detmer’s character roles made a turn when she starred in the drama What About Brian, where she plays the role of Deena Greco. What About Brian gave her the floor to prove to the audiences that she can not only bring in the laughs but tears as well. While being in the series, Amanda Detmer also managed to be part of Owen Wilson’s comedy, You, Me, and Dupree. Her recent projects whilst on What About Brian include Final Move, American Crude and Making It Legal.

Amanda Detmer has been married to Bernardo Targett since December 2004. After less than three years of marriage, however, she filed for divorce against her husband due to “irreconcilable differences”. Prior to the divorce, the couple already separated in April of 2007. They have no children.
