Alexis Bledel was born on the 16th of September 1981 from an Argentine father and Mexican mother. She was born in Houston, Texas but her first language is Spanish. In fact she only learned English when she went to school. She grew up with her brother and was very shy as a child. Her mother encouraged her to try acting to overcome her shyness. She appeared in the local community theatre in the local production of Out Town and The Wizard of Oz. Then a scouting agent saw her at the mall and offered her to work as fashion model.

Alexis attended the St. Agnes Academy in Houston and then she enrolled at the Page Parkes Center for Modeling and Acting. Then she attended the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she majored in film. With just a year at the Tisch School of the Arts she was then cast in Gilmore Girls. Her role Lorelai Leigh “Rory” Gilmore made her famous. According to Alexis she can very much relate to her character since both of them are students and because Rory’s personal relationships her mother is something everyone can relate with. In 2002 she was chosen by Teen People’s as one of the 25 Hottest Stars Under 25.

Alexis also appeared in the video She’s Gonna Break Soon by Less than Jake’s 2003 Album, Anthem. Then she appeared in the movie Sin City. She played the character Becky an ass kicking prostitute. Sin City was shot in almost black and white color except with splashes of red for blood or yellow for the evil character and in the case of Becky, her blue eyes. Sin City’s director is Robert Rodriguez.

Alexis also starred in the acclaimed “The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants” and played Lena Kaligaris. She starred with America Ferrerra of Ugly Betty. She was number 87 in Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2005.

Alexis dated for three and a half years Milo Ventimiglia, her Gilmore Girls co-star before they separated in 2006. During her free time she is active with the work at First Book. It is a non profit organization which collects and gives books to the less fortunate. She also tries her hand at photography and when not working for First Book she spends most of her time taking shots of her friends and family. She is also an avid world traveler and has visited Tuscany. This compliments her love for different kinds of cuisine. She adores everything from gourmet to fast food.
