Alberta Watson is a Canadian actress born on March 6, 1955 in Toronto Canada. She started her acting career during her teenage years as she took part of a local theater group. She then moved on to star in commercials, and eventually in feature films. Her first big break on television was in the TV movie Honor Thy Father, at the age of 19.

Alberta Wartson’s brilliant acting prowess continued to shine after a slew of television appearances, thus in 1978, she was nominated Best Actress in the Genie Awards for her role as Mitzi in George Kaczender’s In Praise of Older Women. The following year she bagged the Best Actress award at the Yorkton Film Festival for the short film Exposure. She then moved to the United States and pursued a Hollywood career, playing roles in films such as The Keep with Scott Glenn and Women of Valor with Susan Sarandon. After almost a decade of working between New York and Los Angeles, Alberta Watson went back to Toronto and stayed there ever since.

Alberta Watson has taken part in successful film and television shows including Hackers in 1995, The Prince & Me in 2004, the Emmy-nominated movie Gotti, and 24 with Kiefer Sutherland. She also became popular in her role as Madeleine in the TV adaptation of the cult hit La Femme Nikita, wherein she stayed for four seasons, as well as regular guest appearances during its fifth season.

Her role as the mother of a child killed in an accident won Alberta Watson another bash of critical praise in the movie The Sweet Hereafter. The movie also received the Grand Prize of theJury at the Cannes Film Festival as well as Academy and Genie Award nominations.
