Her performance in Critina Bazan made her career as she was chosen by WAPA TV for the role of the daughter of Iris Chacon and Daniel Gurrero in "Yo se que mentia". Although she was only aged 9 at that time, she was one of the main casts with a very major character. And it was not long before she became one of the most beloved young actresses in television. This was followed by Vivir Para Ti in 1983 where she appeared for only two chapters.
After appearing in "Vivir Para Ti" she decided to concentrate on her studies for the next years. She then attended the University of the Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico where she later on earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree.
After earning her degree she then participated in Teatro Tapia and appeared in several major plays. Teatro Tapia is one of San Juan's oldest and premier theatres. Her appearance in Teatro Tapia got the attention of many Mexican producers and she was then offered many roles for television and movies.
She accepted the offer and then moved to Mexico where she became one of its most popular stars. She appeared in soap operas and became a star in Camilia but her role in Amigas y Rivales catapulted her to stardom. She was also offered major and challenging roles where she was able to showcase her acting prowess. Her role in Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real is a rape victim turned lesbian.
In 2004, while working in Mexico for the soap opera Mujer de Madera, Adamari's father Luis suffered a heart attack. Adamari had to fly back to Puerto Rico to be with her father who eventually survived the attack. Adamar since then had to fly back and fort to Mexico and Puerto Rico to be with her father whenever her schedule permits.
In 2005, Adamari was diagnosed with breast cancer but in 2006 it was announced that with early detection and treatment she is now cancer free. In June of that year she married her boyfriend Luis Fonsi.
